Ways to get involved

Transcription

Can you read your GP’s handwriting? Are you a time-travelling Victorian? If so, we have just the job for you. Transcription of old documents is crucial to furthering our research, ensuring consistency, legibility and ease of access for the public to these important records: if you’re an expert at de-tangling old handwriting, we need you.

Research

Our work first and foremost is about telling true stories, not porkies, of the past. We carefully research each and every one of our institutions, their staff and residents to ensure not only a factually accurate report, but an emotionally compelling narrative. So if you’re a keen writer or are looking to learn how to, please contact us below and begin your research journey.

Artifact Finder

Are you a dab hand at eBay? Maybe you’re an Amazon intellect? We’re looking for keen volunteers to search out invaluable items, online or off, so that we can continue to buy and preserve these for posterity.

Design

History isn’t always pretty, but websites can be. If you have any skills in web design, photography or visual communication, we’re be excited to hear from you.

Fundraising

None of the above would be possible without the tireless work of our fundraising team, ensuring a steady supply of coffee and, more importantly, the funding which keeps these projects moving. If you’re interested in joining us raising finances, please get in contact.
