Timeline

1814 – Estimated year of birth – Duffield.

1834 – 16th September – Married Ann Walker at St Werburgh’s Derby, witnessed by John Knitton And Mary Annable.

1835 – 22nd March – Baptism of first son – Thomas Beard.

1838 – 27th July – Baptism of first daughter – Ann Beard. Ann died the same year.

1839 – 15th September – Baptism of second son – Henry Beard.

1841 – Census – Ann Beard living in Little Chester with Thomas (aged 5) & Henry (aged 3).

1851 – Census – Thomas Beard registered as a butcher, living with wife Ann Beard and Thomas (aged 15 – Acre Farmer) & Henry (aged 10).

1855 – 14th September – Thomas steals a horse – a second stolen horse found in his possession.

1855 – 16th October – Convicted of horse theft.

1855 – 17th December – Received at Millbank Prison. Prisoner number 1711.

1856 – 2nd March – Son, Thomas Beard convicted at Leicester of using a forged cheque.

1856 – 28th June – Received at Portland Prison.

1859 – 3rd May – Received at Woking Convict Invalid Prison. Prisoner Number 2.

1859 – 15th October – Released from Woking Convict Invalid Prison.

1860 – 30th June – Thomas Beard apprehended for sheep theft.

1860 – 3rd July – Thomas Beard convicted of sheep theft.

1860 – 17th August – Received at Wakefield Prison.

1861 – Census – Ann Beard living in Little Chester.

1861 – Thomas received at Chatham Prison – Registered as invalided.

1862 – Thomas received at Broadmoor Prison – Registered as invalided.

1863 – Thomas received at Dartmoor Prison.

1863 – Punishment – Thomas refused to follow rules – As punishment forfeit prison class and 3 days of remission (time off for public works).

1864 – Thomas received at Chatham – Registered as invalided.

1865 – 23rd October – Transferred to Millbank.

1865 – 25th October – Released on Licence from Millbank.
