1855 – 22nd September – Committed to Clerkenwell Prison for theft from a person.
1855 – 8th October – Tried at the Middlesex Sessions.
1855 – 29th October – Convicted, aged 34, of larceny from the person at the adjourned Quarterly General Sessions held at Clerkenwell. Sentenced to 4 years penal servitude.
1855 – 29th October – Extract from The Globe – William Jenkins who was tried and found guilty of robbery before Mr Witham, was brought up for judgement.
1856 – 5th January – Confined at Millbank Prison.
1856 – 20th August – Received at Portland Prison.
1859 – 3rd May – Received at Woking Convict Invalid Prison. Prisoner Number 21. He is listed as a married labourer with no children and Church of England by religious prefence. His next of kin, his mother Mrs Jenkins, lives at Grays Inn Lane, Holborn. He is distinguished by tattoos on his right arm, the letters ‘M.A’ and a wreath, and on his left arm ‘J. Morris’ and a heart; he also has several moles on the left side of his belly.
1859 – 7th October – Released from Woking Convict Invalid Prison
